Tips for surviving in a tough economy

Good question! How does any business approach setting fees in today's economic climate? Here are my suggestions:

* Now is the time to lower your prices and offer specials--coupons, special discounts, and introductory offers should be part of your marketing plan.

* Consider bartering with another company for a fair trade. I'm working on this right now. One of my clients, a massage therapist, needs promotional writing for her new business. I could use her services, after being injured in a car accident. So, we are incorporating both of our needs into a win-win situation!

* Grin and bear it. We're all seeing a decline in business. Those of us who have been in business for 20 years or more, can seek comfort by recalling other difficult economic periods and the fact that we rebounded.

* Be creative. Think of ways to expand your services. I just began writing e-books, now that resumes have dropped off, due to the changes in technology and so many choices on-line.

Hope this advice gives you some new ideas!
